5V Series Cast Iron Ten-Groove Sheaves with Split Taper Bushings for “5V” Belts

5V series 10-groove taper bushed sheaves are manufactured for 5V, 5VX, banded 5V, and banded 5VX belts. They range from 7.10″ to 50.0″ in diameter. Depending on the sheave size, they are made to use an R2, S1, or U1 split-taper bushings, which we also stock. Most of our 10-groove 5V split taper sheaves are manufactured from a high-strength grade 35 cast iron, are phosphate-coated, and are painted for anti-corrosion. All of them are balanced at the factory for smooth machinery operation.

(1) 5V-Series V-Belts

Classic 5V-Series V-Belts have a 0.63″ top-width, 0.53″ thickness, and a 38° angle. Additionally, 5V V-belts are 1 of the oldest styles of V-Belts in the industry. Because of their long-term success and economical operation, they are also 1 of the industry’s most widely used belt series. The premium 5V-series v-belts we supply are manufactured under ISO 9001 specifications, are oil and heat resistant, and directly interchange with other brands. They are constructed of a natural rubber compound with polyester cords and use cotton with a polyester blend cover for high durability.

5V-series v-belts are a part of the “classic” lineup of v-belts because they are 1 of the oldest style belts used and 1 of the most common styles. 5VX cogged v-belts are designated by having a 0.53″ top-width and 0.53″ thickness. Our cogged 5VX v-belts are manufactured with raw-edge sidewalls to eliminate slippage and increase efficacy, saving operation costs. They are also manufactured by ARPM standards and are oil and heat-resistant. 5VX belts are constructed from a high-quality chloroprene compound with high-strength polyester chords and have a top fabric built from a cotton polyester blend. Besides the performance, durability, and energy savings benefits, our cogged v-belts will work with existing stand v belt pulleys/ sheaves.

Custom Taper Bush V-belt Pulleys

V-belt pulleys (also known as belt pulleys) are available in undrilled, pre-drilled, or clamping bush variants. Undrilled and pre-drilled models must first be provided with a borehole, a keyway, and a threaded hole. In contrast, the clamping bush version (also known as the sleeve version) does not require additional machining. This model is already equipped as standard with a conical bore and threaded bores for mounting the bush on the shaft and is always used in conjunction with the associated clamping bush.

The associated taper lock bushes are available with various sizes of boreholes and a keyway in both metric and imperial dimensions. They are supplied with the appropriate socket head screws and can be found in this online shop under the clamping bushes product group. The significant advantage of using a clamping bush is that mounting and removal are effortless because the pulley and shaft do not have to be modified beforehand.

V-belt pulleys are usually made from cast iron (GG) and steel. If required for specific applications, it is also possible to manufacture these components from aluminum, stainless steel, or plastic material. There is also the option of supplying v belt pulleys with an additional surface treatment if the ambient conditions require this of the drive. Types of Pulley Systems

If you’ve ever tried to lift a pail of water, you’ve probably seen the pulley system in action. Pulleys are extremely useful tools for everything from household appliances to heavy industrial machinery. Different kinds of pulley systems are classified according to their amount of motion. Some types have fixed axes, while others have movable axes. Some common uses of pulleys are listed below.

Pulleys are complex structures with thin-walled and thick-walled sections. Therefore, they require specific forging designs. The tool concept for the production of pulleys is shown in Figure 11.6. Using the generated tool, the pulley can be forged into different shapes. Process parameters must be optimized based on material, surface quality and metallographic analysis.
Pulleys are wheels mounted on shafts. Its main function is to assist the movement of heavy objects. A single-wheel pulley can change the direction of the force, enabling a person to pull heavy objects. A dual-wheel pulley distributes the weight evenly across both wheels, allowing it to lift the same weight with half the effort.
The mechanical advantage of a 2-wheel pulley is that it reduces the force required by about half. A 100 kg object can be lifted with a force of 500 Newtons. The mechanical advantage of a pulley with 2 wheels is twice that of a single-wheel pulley. However, care should always be taken when using 2-wheel pulleys.
